The Subject: Ghost Kitty
Our home is described as a duplex. It has a bathroom and 2 bedrooms upstairs and living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom downstairs. It is a very peaceful, welcoming home. We have 2 cats, 2 cockatiels, 1 anole, and a beta fish. Seems normal enough, right?
For the first month things appeared normal. The unpacking, the setting up, and the normal settling in that you do in a new environment. Nothing out of the ordinary really seemed to happen. It felt a little strange having stairs and a second floor, being that we were used to single floor residencies up to this point.
This is what happened to me, the wife:
We have two cats; a black and white one named April and a gray one named Dusty. We allow them run of the house, including the bedroom where they sleep with us or just go to be alone. If you have cats, you know how close they will walk to you when you are lying down. I go to bed an hour before I fall asleep, just to be more comfortable while watching TV. Well, sometimes, not all the time, as I am lying there watching TV, I will feel a cat walking up close to my leg. I go to pet either April or Dusty and I don't feel them. I turn over to see which cat it is, and no cat is on the bed or they haven't moved from where they were sleeping. I have just pushed these infrequent "ghost cat" visits to odd happenings.
But in the afternoon of May 12, 2006, the oddest thing happened. I was going upstairs to brush and rebraid my hair, when our birds just started screaming and making noise. They do this every time I leave the room, except this time was different; I was still in their line of vision. They don't usually start their antics until I am on the landing and I was only on the first stair. I looked at them and told them "Be quiet. Momma'll be right back." Normally, they'll calm down. This time, they didn't. As I'm still looking at my birds, out of the corner of my eye, I see a gray cat sitting on the third or fourth step. Without looking, I go to pet what I think is Dusty and I almost hit my head on the banister! There is no cat on the stair! I shrugged and looked back into the living room and didn't see Dusty, so I looked into the dining room and don't see Dusty. I figure he's in the kitchen so I went upstairs and who did I see sleeping on our bed? Dusty and April.
In the afternoon of May 18th, 2006 I was in the living room watching TV. The way I have the living room set up if I sit a certain way, I can see the stairs in my peripheral vision. So, I see out of the corner of my eye a gray cat walking down the stairs. I turn to call Dusty over and there is no cat on the stairs, again! I got a little freaked at this point... I twice thought I'd seen a cat on the stairs. I told my husband about it and he thought I was "just being cute" until...
This is what happened to my husband:
On May 18, 2006 at 10:00pm I went to lay down for my nightly nap before work when it happened. I was laying down and all of a sudden I felt a jump on the bed. I then felt the bed shake rhytmically as if a cat was cleaning itself. The room was pitch dark so I just felt around with my hand and legs. I felt nothing. I decided to get up and turn the light on. There was nothing there. The cats were with my wife downstairs the entire time.
Intrigued, my wife and I started taking pictures of the house that weekend. We have captured many different shots of what appear to be orbs that are low to the floor. We even caught an orb right in the face of our cat Dusty on the steps! The odd thing is, the ghost cat showed up after my wife started calling for it... she's named it Ghosty.
So what do we do? We were going to do an investigation of our house but what will we catch, evp meows or maybe a cat coughing up a spectral hairball???
In closing, the cat doesn't bother either one of us! It doesnt jump on the bed everytime we lay down. Maybe we'll tell it to goto the light and go to cat heaven!! Well, if it wants to stay it can!! I just hope it doesn't eat all the alive cats food!! Iams is expensive!!
